New Name For University
August 2011
Thames Valley University has changed its name to The University of West London.
London College of Music Exams (with whom RGT work in partnership) have been part of Thames Valley University (TVU) since 1991. TVU has recently re-positioned its operations to West London, with the core of its campus now comprising a new state-of-the-art eleven-storey building in Brentford and the newly-refurbished teaching centre in Ealing. Since both centres are now in West London, rather than the Thames Valley geographical region, the university has changed its name to the University of West London (UWL).

The university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter John said: “The name change is necessary in order to align our clear brand and geographical identity which now lies at the heart of West London.”
Of course, numerous existing syllabuses and other publications already in print currently bear the old TVU name and, rather than just dump these – which would be very environmentally unfriendly – these will be gradually updated as and when reprints are required. We hope teachers and students will understand that in the transition period some documentation will still bear the TVU name, while some will have the new UWL name printed on it.
